Separated at Birth?

Russian President Vladimir Putin on a fishing trip last summer, and Lieutenant Colonel Bill Kilgore (played by Robert Duvall) in the 1979 Francis Ford Coppola film "Apocalypse Now."

I love the smell of sturgeon in the morning ! .... The smell-- .... Smelled like --victory.

I couldn't help but think the bottom picture looked like J.R. Ewing from the old show Dallas! (I admit to being addicted to that soap.)

Well, the Kilgore character is supposed to be a cowboy, literally, so you have made an astue connection between him and J.R. Here's what Captain Willard says about him in "Apocalypse Now":

"First of the Ninth was an old cavalry division that had cashed in its horses for choppers, and gone tear-assign around Nam looking for shit. They'd given Charlie a few surprises in their time here. What they were mopping up now hadn't even happened yet an hour ago."

That sounds like something J.R. would do.
